This collector coin from the Royal Australian Mint has been released in partnership with the Bradman Foundation, commemorating the centenary of Sir Donald Bradman’s birth on 27 August 1908.

The coin design depicts a portrait of “The Don” wearing the baggy green cap and giving the crowd his customary salute after scoring a century. The inscription “Sir Donald Bradman – Another Century” makes reference to the 100th Anniversary of Sir Donald Bradman’s birth as well as his prowess as a world renowned batsman. 

Still revered as the greatest batsmen of all time, Sir Donald Bradman broke the World Test cricket batting record when he was just 21 with an innings of 334 runs.  In a Test career spanning two decades, he captained Australia 24 times and many of his batting records still stand, including the highest individual Test batting average (99.94), the most double centuries (12), the most double centuries in a series (3 in 1930) and the most runs scored in a single day’s play (309 against England in 1930).
